TIPS for Diabetes is a multi-disciplinary team service, specialising in intensive diabetes education - aiming to enhance the lifestyle of people living with diabetes.
Dr Brigid Knight (Accredited Practising Dietitian, Credentialled Diabetes Educator and Ms Janet Taylor (Registered Nurse, Credentialled Diabetes Educator) have over 40 years of combined experience working with clients with diabetes.
Brigid and Janet were members of the original team that introduced the Dose for Normal Eating (DAFNE) program into Australia in 2005 and facilitated for this program for more than 10 years. Brigid and Janet are also Certified Pump Trainers so they are therefore well equipped to offer comprehensive education in intensive insulin therapy, both in the setting of insulin pump therapy and multiple injection therapy.
TIPS aims to provide an integrated approach to diabetes care, ensuring access to comprehensive diabetes education and dietetic support, in a partnership involving the client, their specialist endocrinologist, general practitioner and the TIPS team.
TIPS is a private practice service.
We welcome clients with Type 1,Type 2 diabetes and gestational diabetes.
Brigid also consults with clients regarding other (non-diabetes) medical issues, including kidney disease, Polycystic Ovarian Syndrome and weight management. Brigid's PhD focused on insulin and dietary management in type 1 diabetes.
